1. General Questions

Sanfields Business and Technology Training Institute (SIBT) is a training institution in Baricho, Kirinyaga County, offering career-focused certificate, diploma, artisan and short-term programmes in Business, Computing & Engineering, Medical, Health & Social Sciences, and School of Hair Dressing, Beauty and Cosmetology.
SIBT is located in Baricho, Kirinyaga County, approximately 4 km off the Nairobi–Nyeri Highway and about 1 km off the Kibirigwi–Baricho–Kerugoya Road. It is also easily accessible through the Sagana–Kagio–Kerugoya route.
SIBT currently has four dedicated faculties:
  • School of Business & Entrepreneurship
  • School of ICT & Engineering (Computing & Engineering departments)
  • School of Medical, Health & Social Sciences
  • School of Hair Dressing, Beauty and Cosmetology
SIBT offers diploma, certificate, artisan, professional, and short-term training programmes, depending on the school and programme. All qualifications are accredited through national examining bodies including CDACC, NITA, KASNEB, and CSK.

2. Admissions FAQs

You can apply through the online application form available on the SIBT website or contact the admissions office for assistance. The published admission process includes completing the application, submitting the required documents, paying the application fee where applicable, attending an interview for selected courses, and receiving an admission letter.
Applicants may be required to provide:
  • National ID or Passport (or Birth Certificate)
  • KCSE certificate or result slip / equivalent qualification
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Other supporting documents depending on the programme
The minimum requirement depends on the programme and level of study. For example, some SIBT certificate programmes require D or D+, while diploma programmes require C- or above. Artisan courses are open to KCPE and KCSE D-/E holders. Applicants should check specific programme requirements before applying.
Yes, depending on your KCSE grade and the programme selected, you may qualify for a certificate, artisan, or other entry-level programme. SIBT can also guide you on an appropriate progression pathway to advance later into diploma levels.
Yes. Students who successfully complete a Level 5 Certificate can progress to higher Level 6 Diploma programmes where they meet the entry requirements for the next level.
SIBT is transfer-friendly and evaluates previous studies and relevant experience for possible credit consideration. Transfer arrangements should be confirmed directly with the admissions office.

3. Fees & Payment FAQs

Yes. SIBT operates a transparent 50/50 payment plan: 50% of the tuition fees upon registration day, and the remaining 50% balance by the 8th week of the semester. Students should contact the SIBT finance/admissions office for approved instalment arrangements.
Depending on the programme, students may have additional costs such as national examination fees (CDACC/NITA/KASNEB), hostel accommodation (Ksh 12,500/semester), meals, practical uniforms/kits, or industrial attachment-related expenses. Students should confirm the full schedule with admissions before enrolment.
SIBT provides guidance and processing support for students applying for HELB TVET loans, County Bursaries, and Constituency Development Funds (CDF). All bursary and sponsor cheques/letters are processed through our accounts office.

4. Learning & Student Life FAQs

Yes. Industrial attachment is incorporated into all relevant certificate and diploma programmes to give students practical workplace experience in corporate offices, health centers, engineering plants, and commercial salons.
Yes. SIBT provides active internship and career-development support through our industrial liaison office to connect students with corporate partners and industry leaders.
Yes. SIBT provides secure, fully serviced on-campus hostel accommodation for students who wish to reside on campus. The fee payable is Ksh 12,500 per semester, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon fee payment.

5. Intake FAQs

Yes. SIBT provides an online application option through our website with fast-track processing. Intakes occur 3 times annually in January, May, and September.
